Granny Blanket

This Granny Blanket, a free pattern by Purl Soho, is my first ever crochet project.  I found the instructions to be beginner friendly.

While the colors and materials of the original blanket are gorgeous, the over $140 USD in yarn for my first crochet project didn’t seem right at first. I am using a Caron yarn exclusively sold at Michael’s. It feels synthetic but not terrible. In retrospect, I wish I used a nicer yarn!

The colors are just perfect for the recipient, my daughter, who loves a happy yellow any given day.

A year older…

February. What a month so far: birthday, surprise vacation and Valentines. I am older but just as happy ūüôā

For my birthday, my husband surprised with a romantic Caribbean vacation. Not only we stayed in beautiful place but he also scored tickets to watch my favorite Latin American singer perform — she gave a concert in Dominican Republic for Valentines Day!

It was one of the best gifts ever! Great music, succulent food, new friends, fun knitting and warm weather.

Here are some pictures of the trip. The full album is here.

A dear friend gifted me a pattern for my birthday. Seemed logical to cast on my way to Dominican Republic. Project details: here.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend.

Back to reality

The husband and I took a mini break from work, parenthood and the city. I am in love with Asheville and the Smoky Mountains.

How cool is to combine social responsibility and fiber? Well done EcoView Fiber Mill.  How about a wonderful craft shop? I dream to come back to these lands soon! Maybe for my second Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (SAFF)?
