Third is (still) a charm

I did it again! I knit another Rikke hat. This one was a birthday gift for my mom, who attempted to steal Rikke no.2. To be honest, I don’t get tired of knitting this pattern.

Enjoying the process and the product is priceless!

Spindrift Shawl on a Sunday

Happy Sunday! I am currently working on the Spindrift Shawl, a lovely pattern by Helen Stewart from Curious Handmade .

These photos were taken at the 50% progress mark. I love Helen’s pattern format–where you can mark your progress and check your stitch count at any row.

Malabrigo Sock yarn is very pleasant to work with. And, look at those colors of “Indiecita”!!

The trip and the yarns

We spent a few good days away from home. In NYC, I visited the usual suspects–Knitty City, Purl Soho and Lion Brand Studio.

From Knitty City, I picked out my first Malabrigo roving.

From Purl Soho, I got yarn for hats:  Purl Soho’s Merino and  Cascade Eco Duo. I couldn’t leave the store without choosing my first Brooklyn Tweed Shelter yarns!

From the Lion Brand Yarn Studio, I got yarn for a sweater: LB Collection Superwash Merino.

We ate yummy food at places like The Grey Dog and Empanada Mama. We walked miles and miles and had a great time. I can’t wait to go back. There is something magical about Manhattan!
